Import a Template into a Collection

Import a template

Use Import Template in Collection Tools when you want to add cards or items to the collection you are viewing, update its card list from a template, or work on its linked template.

Choose a source

Select Import Template, then choose one of these paths:

  • Edit Linked Template for [Collection Name] opens the linked template in Template Builder. Make your changes there, then select Update Collection when you are ready to send the revised card list back.
  • Import Template Zip imports an external template package from a ZIP file.
  • Import Template Folder imports an external template package from a folder.

Use the linked-template path when you are correcting or expanding the template already connected to this collection. Use an external package when someone has shared a template with you or you saved one elsewhere.

Review an external template

Before an external template changes the collection, 5585 checks whether it appears to belong there and whether it can safely preserve your personal tracking.

When something needs attention, Review Import may flag:

  • A different group or collection name
  • A different template family
  • A template that follows a different revision path
  • A missing, invalid, or changed Creator Proof
  • A change to the creator or original-creator credit

Select View Creator Details when it is available to inspect the creator information. Select Cancel if you do not trust the package or did not mean to import it. Select Import Anyway only after reviewing the warning and confirming that the template belongs in this collection.

Creator Proof helps you assess package integrity and creator-identity continuity. It does not prove that a template is official or that its card list is accurate.

Review the collection update

Before a compatible external template is applied, 5585 shows what will change:

  • Cards or items that will be added
  • Existing cards or items that will be updated because their CardIDs match
  • Current active cards or items that are absent from the incoming template and will become inactive

Notes, collection status, and wishlist priority stay attached to matching CardIDs.

If an import has no matching CardIDs but the collection already contains cards or items, 5585 treats it as unrelated. It will not merge the two lists. You can cancel or choose Replace Collection.

Replacing a collection permanently deletes its current cards or items, along with their tied notes, cached images, and image-index data. Use it only when you intend to replace the collection completely.

Finish the import

If an Image Matching index is currently building or queued, 5585 asks before stopping it because the incoming cards or items make the existing index out of date.

After the import, 5585 shows a summary and may offer to build the image index now. Choose Build Now if you want the collection ready for Image Matching, or choose Later and build it from Collection Tools when you are ready.

External templates are also saved in Template Builder, so you can revise them later without needing to find the original ZIP or folder again.
